Project: Jubilee Holidays
Location: Altrincham, Cheshire
Hello! I come from an Art & Design background My name is Sarah and and my favourite place in the world is to be sat near a bonfire! I love it. I love sitting by myself and enjoying all of God’s creation but I also love sitting with my family eating s’mores or being in a larger group especially when we are singing daft camp songs!
I actually became a Christian sat around a bonfire when I was 7 and can remember realising that Jesus was my friend and that my life would never be the same again. My career started off as a Primary School teacher however for the majority of my working career I have been a Church based Children and Family worker which has been a real joy.and began my journey within the high end fashion industry creating visual displays for various store fronts.
I then moved into education after having my 2nd daughter and have never looked back! I have worked as a Behaviour consultant and Safeguarding Lead for over 16 years focusing on students who find mainstream school challenging. Alongside this, I nurtured my childhood passion for baking and cake decoration and opened ‘A Slice Of Nice’ cake company which has been in operation for 20 years. I enjoy creating life like cakes for a wide range of clients including celebrities.
About My Project
The dream is to run and organise annual holiday’s for families with children who do not normally have the opportunity to get away. As well as having an amazing holiday the purpose is to encounter Jesus.
The word Jubilee (in the Bible) means, ‘an economic, cultural, environmental and communal reset, when the land and people rest, and all those in slavery are set free to return to their communities’
For Jubilee Holiday’s the desire is to see families set free through the medium of a holiday of all the pressures of daily life and to have a break, a reset. A lot can happen in a week😀
There are many obstacles preventing families from going on holiday, for example a lack of finances, transportation, confidence, or prohibitive working patterns. My dream is for Jubilee Holidays to enable families to overcome these constraints by providing them with an affordable, accessible, fun experience with great memories and opportunity to encounter Jesus. In partnership with the local church/Christians and Christian organisations Jubilee holidays will be organised for groups of families by teams of Christians in lovely holiday settings.
