About Me

I’m Matt, founder of Cross Connecting. I’m based in Southampton where I’ve been since being an undergraduate student. I’m a chartered engineer by trade, but have more recently been using my experience to support the Christian non-profit sector through a variety of means. I’m married to my wife Joyce, we both have a passion for investing in the next generation. In our free time, we like taste-testing different food together from all over the world!

About My Project

With most children and young people having no access to church, the need to engage and support them where they are, i.e. in schools, is vital. But research shows there are huge barriers that hinder such opportunities. Parents find it hard to be involved in the spiritual life of their children’s schools, with no obvious “way in”. For Christian teachers, it’s getting harder to share about faith in school due to cultural pressures and legal limitations, assuming time even allows. And for churches and Christian organisations who want to be involved in schools, they are dependent on a “gatekeeper” on the inside to open the door, as well as being dependent on a strong volunteer base, neither of which can be assumed anymore. Whilst the barriers are obvious, there is encouragingly a huge desire to overcome these barriers, and better yet: a way to overcome these barriers. What if these barriers could be easily overcome by working together to open each other’s doors? The only problem left is finding a way to connect them together so that they can establish new relationships and work together. That is why Cross Connecting exists. We connect those who want to be involved in sharing Jesus in schools. We are in start-up stage, but we trust the Lord in paving the way for our schools-based collaborative platform to be of use in catalysing Kingdom-building opportunities in UK schools.
