About Me

Hello, I’m Dawn. A Nottingham-born girl now living in Bolton. My working background is in churches and charity work, but it all started back in 1999 when I began working with young people at risk of exclusion, and God gave me a heart for the lost, hurting, and overlooked. I’m the Founder of ParentFuel, equipping and championing families in some of the UK’s most deprived communities. A survivor of domestic violence, I’m passionate about breaking generational cycles through healing, faith, and community. I’m married to Justin, and between us we have five amazing children. We’re part of King’s Church, Bolton.

About My Project

ParentFuel is a charity dedicated to equipping, supporting, and championing families in some of the UK’s most deprived communities. Our mission is to equip and support parents to break cycles of generational trauma, build Christ-centred homes, and discover hope, freedom, and restoration in Jesus.

We deliver two core programmes designed to meet the needs of parents in challenging circumstances. Root & Rise is a six-week reparenting course that helps parents understand and heal the effects of generational trauma. Using reflective practice, peer support, and trauma-informed tools, participants build stronger emotional connections and healthier family patterns, fostering lasting change at home and in the wider community.

Freedom Fuel is a four-week course exploring faith, freedom, and forgiveness. It provides parents with a direct opportunity to say yes to Jesus and supports Christian faith and emotional transformation in family life.

Both courses are evidence-based, trauma-informed, co-written by parents and professionals, and rooted in Biblical principles. ParentFuel takes a relational, community-driven approach, partnering with local churches, schools, and organisations to provide safe, welcoming spaces where parents can connect, learn, and grow. Through our work, families are strengthened, homes become places of hope, and communities are transformed.
